On September 14, IMTS 2026, the International Manufacturing Technology Show, officially opened at McCormick Place in Chicago. Huayan Robotics (1021.HK, Booth 236746) showcased its latest innovations across high-performance robotics, high-frequency industrial applications, and embodied intelligence, drawing visitors from around the world to explore its technologies firsthand.

Balancing Speed and Precision for Real-World Performance

Collaborative robots have long been recognized for their ability to work safely alongside people. However, their operating speeds can be relatively conservative, and cycle times can be long, limiting efficiency in applications such as high-speed material handling and machine tending. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in motors, servo systems, and motion control, Huayan Robotics has overcome these speed limitations while maintaining safe collaboration, combining high speed, stability, and compliant force control.

Higher speed: Huayan collaborative robots achieve individual joint speeds of up to 370°/s, with overall operating speed increased by 1.5× compared with previous-generation models. Low-speed jitter is controlled within ±0.3 mm, making them suitable for cycle-time-sensitive applications including material handling, precision assembly, sorting, and machine tending.

Stable operation: At the show, Huayan demonstrated the motion stability of its Elfin robot by placing a wine glass filled with liquid on the robot's end-of-arm tray. With no clamping mechanism, the robot performed continuous high-speed movements while keeping the liquid stable, clearly demonstrating its vibration suppression and motion stability.

Compliant force control: Huayan robots integrate end-of-arm force control with a real-time control refresh rate of up to 2,000 Hz and proprietary force-control algorithms. The system supports constant-force searching with force fluctuations of ≤0.5 N, effectively suppressing end-of-arm vibration and enabling efficient grinding, polishing, welding, and other processes.

Enabling High-Frequency Manufacturing: Welding Solutions

Huayan Robotics offers a range of collaborative welding robots designed for different application scenarios, including fixed, mobile, gantry-mounted, and lightweight configurations. The robots support functions such as laser seam tracking, arc tracking, vision-based teach-free operation, and compliant force-control drag teaching with a drag-teaching force of ≤5 N, enabling complex multi-layer, multi-pass welding processes.

At IMTS, Huayan showcased a welding robot based on the E12-Pro. With an extended 1.8 m reach, the robot is designed to handle large workpieces in applications including bridge and building steel structures, construction machinery, and automotive components.

Integrated 2.5D Vision Collaborative Robot: Combining Precision and Cost Efficiency

Compared with conventional 2D vision technology, Huayan's integrated 2.5D vision collaborative robot addresses Z-axis height and pose deviations. It can autonomously identify positional deviations through AR codes (augmented reality markers) and automatically adjust the workpiece orientation to maintain optimal alignment between the camera and workpiece. This enables sub-millimeter positioning accuracy in complex industrial environments. The technology has already been deployed at scale in applications such as semiconductor wafer box handling, material sorting, and machine loading and unloading, and has been validated on production lines operated by leading customers in the new energy and 3C (computer, communication, and consumer electronics) industries.

Faster Robots for CNC Machine Tending

With upgrades to motion-control algorithms, motors, and other core technologies, together with optimized operating modes, Huayan robots can achieve up to a 50% increase in overall speed for CNC machine tending applications compared with previous-generation models. They support multiple deployment configurations, including built-in, external, and flexible mobile-cart setups, providing stable and efficient solutions for CNC applications.

High-Payload Palletizing for Demanding Production Lines

For high-payload palletizing, Huayan robots combine payloads of up to 60 kg, reaches of up to 2,200 mm, speeds of 8–13 cycles per minute, and stable operation. They are designed for production lines across industries including food and daily consumer goods, logistics and warehousing, and pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

Advancing Embodied Intelligence and Building the Foundation for Physical AI

For embodied intelligence to move toward industrial deployment, AI needs a physical body. Core actuation components—including humanoid arms, joint modules, and motors—serve as the foundation connecting algorithms with the physical world. From core motors and joint modules to seven-axis humanoid arms, Huayan Robotics is building the foundation for Physical AI, helping advance embodied intelligence from concept toward large-scale industrial deployment.

Seven-axis humanoid arm: A core actuation component for embodied intelligence. Its seven degrees of freedom and crossed wrist-joint design enable high-precision force control across all joints, with force-control accuracy of ≤0.02 N·m, end-of-arm contact-force accuracy of 0.1 N, and force-control bandwidth of >100 Hz. Integrated with a local AI server and natively supporting ROS 2, the system is designed to enable the transition from tools to intelligent agents and support the industrial deployment of embodied intelligence.

Humanoid robot joint modules: Highly integrated and lightweight. The modules integrate high-performance frameless torque motors, precision reducers, 19-bit high-resolution encoders, high-sensitivity torque sensors, high-performance drive controllers, and intelligent algorithms. They combine high power density, lightweight construction, and high reliability with real-time servo control and force-control capabilities, enabling humanoid robots to achieve precise motion, compliant interaction, and safe, reliable operation.

High-performance motors: Providing powerful actuation for Physical AI. With more than 20 years of experience in motor technologies, Huayan has developed proprietary magnetic-circuit and winding designs to achieve high torque density. Torque fluctuation is controlled within 1%, while efficient thermal management and ultra-low losses contribute to stable operation and improved energy efficiency. The motors are designed for applications including intelligent robotics, new energy vehicles, low-altitude aircraft, and precision automation equipment.

IMTS is one of the largest and most influential manufacturing technology shows in North America. During the event, manufacturing representatives from North America and around the world engaged with Huayan Robotics to explore the potential of collaborative robots in applications including welding, material handling, machine tending, painting, and assembly.

Huayan Robotics remains committed to collaboration and will continue to advance its global strategy driven by both technology and market development. By expanding its international network and working with partners worldwide, Huayan aims to contribute to a collaborative robotics ecosystem and support the intelligent transformation of manufacturing across global markets.
